About Boston Hamilton House Inc.

Located in Dorchester, Massachusetts, Boston Hamilton House Inc., has, since 1974, been focused on helping men recover from substance use disorders. This Greater Boston rehab facility functions as a halfway house or sober living community.

It is presently able to accommodate up to 22 men recovering from substance use issues. Hamilton House is licensed as an adult residential rehabilitation program by the Bureau of Substance Abuse Services, Department of Public Health.

The facility is one of the pioneers of the sober living community idea in the Greater Boston Area, offering a familial and supportive environment for recovery. Hamilton House uses the Twelve Steps methodology and employs individual and group counseling, life skills training, and relapse prevention training to help recovering individuals attain a sustainable long-term recovery in the real world.

Unique features of Hamilton House

As with many sober living homes, Hamilton House is intended to be a transitional facility where residents can take time to heal and develop the skills needed to ultimately persevere after rehab. One interesting feature of Hamilton House is its alumni program, which seeks to provide continued support for residents throughout the rest of their lives, should they need it.

Hamilton House also maintains close relationships with several health providers, rehab centers, social service agencies, charities, and support groups with a stake in local substance abuse issues. This is intended to help residents draw support from a wide variety of local sources, depending on the kinds of problems they are currently facing.

The facility also has a unique set of criteria for recovery success, which includes participation in support groups, viable employment, participation in educational activities related to substance use, continued long-term abstinence, and finding housing.

Who is Hamilton House for?

If you or someone you care about needs continuing care in a sober living facility for alcohol or drug use disorder, Hamilton House can be a solid choice. The facility primarily accepts adult men who have previously completed a substance rehab program. The facility uses the 12 Steps process, which invokes belief in a higher power, which may be a factor in your selection.
