About Institute for Health and Recovery

Institute of Health and Recovery (IHR) is a nonprofit group that delivers a full suite of outpatient substance rehab and treatment services throughout Massachusetts. Since 1989, it has had a mission of offering the full continuum of care for individuals and families that have been affected by substance misuse.

IHR also looks into the social aspects of substance misuse and seeks to address it not only by making its services more accessible but also by spearheading community programs that support health equity and social justice.

What makes Institute for Health and Recovery special?

IHR tries to address every part of the substance use problem, including its roots as well as the causes of relapses and recidivism. It takes care to offer a holistic approach to drug treatment that is at once holistic and individualized. The nonprofit also differs from similar groups by fully committing to collaborative models of practice, intended to promote resiliency and more sustainable recovery.

Other parts of its mission are the use of evidence-based approaches, as well as using a gender-responsive, anti-racist approach to rehab. It also tries to advance family-centered, strength-based approaches to healing. To this end, about a third of people employed in IHR are also in recovery themselves, from substance use disorders, HIV/AIDS, and mental health issues.

IHR has also received numerous awards and recognitions for its service. Accolades have come from the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment as an Exemplary Program for Homeless Addictions Treatment, and Pregnant and Parenting Women and Infants Promising Practice. It notably has a SAMHSA Science and Service Award as well, one of the highest honors in substance treatment and rehab.

How It Works

For those seeking addiction treatment for themselves or a loved one, our calls are confidential and are available for 24/7 help.

Calls from your area will be answered by Legacy Healing Center, and network of treatment centers who can be found here www.rehabsnearyoudisclosures.com

We are available 24/7 to discuss your treatment options. Our representatives work for a treatment center and will discuss whether their facility may be an option for you.

These calls are offered at no cost to you and with no obligation to enter into treatment. Neither this site nor anyone who answers the call receives a commission or fee dependent upon which treatment provider a visitor may ultimately choose.

If you wish to explore additional treatment options or connect with a specific rehab center, you can: browse top-rated listings, visit our homepage, or visit SAMHSA, at www.samhsa.gov, or by calling 800-662-HELP.
