About Eliot Community Human Services

Eliot Community Human Services, often referred to as “Eliot”, is a mental health and human services group in Lexington, MA that provides drug rehab services in greater Boston. Established originally as a child guidance institute in 1958, the nonprofit group is named for Abigail Eliot, a known innovator in the field of child education and psychology.

Over the years, it has expanded its mission to serve people of all ages in the community. Eliot treats substance use disorders as part of its goal to provide better mental health services throughout Massachusetts

Services offered by Eliot

Eliot offers a wide range of psychiatric treatment services for adults, adolescents, and children of all genders and backgrounds. Adults with psychiatric issues including substance use disorder can expect quality outpatient care for all coexisting conditions. This is is in contrast with many other rehab centers that may not be able to provide care for dual diagnosis cases.

Children and adolescents with substance use disorders, particularly those without a home or who lead a troubled home life, may join a residential program specifically designed for them. Eliot also offers transitional home services for youth with run-ins with the law. All of the center’s programs for young people are designed to help lead to a sustainable recovery and productive lives.

Care coordination

Eliot pursues a holistic approach to recovery. For this reason, it offers two programs to help individuals with mental health and substance use issues.

The Behavioral Health Community Partner Program uses a team-based approach to improve care coordination. It integrates different behavioral and physical health services for people with complex behavioral health, medical, and substance use disorders. This is in line with scientific research that shows holistic treatment improves the long-term prospects of such individuals.

The other program is the Child, Youth, and Family Services. This originates from Eliot’s Children’s Behavioral Health Initiative (CBHI) and it aims to help young people achieve more comprehensive care than would be available elsewhere.
